History

Welcome to the 1st 8" Howitzer Battery website. The battery received orders in 1965 to disembark Camp Sukiran, Okinawa, and to report to DaNang, Vietnam.

The battery spent time in An Hoa, moved north to the DMZ, then platooned out to all the firebases within Leatherneck Square. The battery also fired support from Khe Sahn and the Rockpile.

1st 8" was ordered back to Okinawa in 1970 and was eventually deactivated.
